Capacity Restrictions/Order Throttling
Overview
Capacity restrictions allow businesses to limit the number of orders placed within specific time slots. These restrictions can be customized to apply on particular days or to specific fulfillment types, such as deliveries.
Once a capacity limit is reached, customers will not be able to select that fulfillment time slot during order setup. Instead, they will see the next available time. Capacity restrictions can be configured under each restaurant's settings to align with operational needs.
Note: When capacity restrictions are in place, ASAP ordering will not be available during order setup.
Creating a Capacity Restriction
- Navigate to the Restaurants List: Find this in the left-hand menu.
- Use Filters to Locate the Restaurant: Apply search filters to find the correct restaurant.
- Open the Restaurant Profile: Click on the restaurant to access its settings.
- Configure Lead Times:
- Open the "Lead Times" section.
- Ensure Lead Times are set to only accept Specific Time orders and not ASAP orders.
- Access Capacity Restrictions:
- Open the "Capacity Restrictions" section.
- Click on + Create Capacity Restriction.
- Enter Restriction Details:
- Select the Start Day for the restriction.
- Enter the Start Time.
- Select the End Day.
- Enter the End Time.
- Specify the Effective and Expiration Dates.
- Choose the Menu Type (e.g., To Go, Catering, or both).
- Select the Fulfillment Types to restrict.
- Set the Order Limit (the amount of orders we want to set as the capacity limit per time slot/increment)
- Activate the Restriction: Toggle the restriction to active and
- Create/Save: Click Create and the Capacity Restriction is created and applied.
Once set up, the system will automatically enforce these restrictions, preventing overloading of order fulfillment capabilities.
For example, between the dates of 2/14/2025 - 3/1/2025, we want to set a capacity of 15 delivery orders per time slot during our peak period (Thursday at 5:00 PM to Saturday at 11:00 PM):
