Tax buckets allow taxes to be configurable for different menu items. For example, hot or cold food, sugary drinks or non-sugary drinks can all be different tax buckets with different tax charges. Tax buckets are applied to the following items in the menu: products, combos, split items, option items, and toppings.
There are multiple steps to have the tax buckets begin charging a tax. Taxes must also be set for the tax bucket within a tax configuration. The combination of having a tax set in the tax bucket on the tax configuration, having that tax configuration applied to a restaurant, and having that tax bucket applied on menu elements allows taxes to be applied to those items.
Creating a Tax Bucket
- To create a tax bucket, navigate to the settings area of the admin.
- Select Taxes & Fees
- Select Global Tax Buckets
- Click the + Create Tax Bucket button
- An new inline section will open in the table. In here, place the name of your new tax bucket:
- After you name it and click save, the tax bucket is created. This allows the bucket to be configurable under the relevant 'Tax Configuration.' It also allows the bucket to be applied to the menu items that require that taxation.
