How to convert a restaurant to Toast POS and complete a menu and data sync within the Onosys Admin:
To convert a restaurant to Toast POS, there are a few steps to be taken in restaurant settings as laid out below. After it is set to Toast POS, then the restaurant is eligible for a sync using the Toast data so there is 1:1 compatibility with the Toast system.
Step 1: Restaurant Set Up
Select restaurant(s) in the Onosys admin site that are using Toast.
With the restaurant open, follow the steps:
Update Restaurant Settings
-
- Select Your Restaurant under Admin > Restaurants.
- Under the restaurant settings, navigate to Menu.
- Set Eligible for Menu Sync = Yes Set the restaurant menu information for the location to "Yes" for "Eligible for Menu Sync"
Set Order Transmission
-
- Navigate to the Legacy Admin
- Delete the existing Primary Transmission Type
- Select WebServiceOrderTransmissionSpecification from the dropdown
- In the ‘Edit’ area, the following should be entered:
{
"host": "",
"port": "",
"password": "",
"sslCertFile": ""
}
- POS Integration = Toast Order Transmission settings for Toast integrated restaurant. Note this location has a backup of TCPIP Printer Transmission
- Click the “Can Connect” button; you should get “Success” in the response.
- Click Submit
Change Credit Card Information
-
- Set Gateway to POS (If using Toast Payments) Credit Card settings for a location using Toast Payments
- Set Gateway to POS (If using Toast Payments) Credit Card settings for a location using Toast Payments
Set Restaurant Properties
-
- Navigate to the New Admin
- Select Your Restaurant under Admin > Restaurants.
- Under the restaurant settings, navigate to Properties.
- Add the following Key/Value (these will differ by brand):
- ToastExternalID = (GUID)
- POS Entries
- Note: The MenuNames property for the location needs to be semi-colon separated, not comma separated for the different menu names. Basically what happens when comma separated is the sync function is looking for a menu named "Beverages,Breakfatast,Food,etc." Semi-colon separated separates the menus and looks for the different menu names. Example of Toast Restaurant Properties. The ToastExternalID is the Toast Restaurant GUID. The other settings differ by client and how they have the POS configured.
Step 2: Menu and Data Sync
A store appears on the sync list when made eligible for menu sync in Step 1 above. There is also some work that Onosys needs to do to enable the integration in the legacy admin. After that is completed:
- Select Sync from the left-hand navigation Onosys Admin Navigation.
- For menu sync, click "Sync" link for the restaurant Restaurant List and available sync options. Highlighted is the Menu Sync "Sync" button.
- Click Submit to execute sync procedures immediately
- Perform a Data Sync by completing the above steps under Data Sync
Step 3: Verifying Sync
A sync takes a minute or so to complete. To verify that the sync has completed, in the admin, under "Sync", find the restaurant, then under the "Menu Sync" header click "Details." Under Current, you should see the date and time (ISO 8601) for LastModified and a value for Length.
- After confirming Sync, spot check location on the front end
